Vision Insurance vs. Medical Insurance
When visiting an optometrist’s office, understanding the different purposes of vision insurance and medical insurance can be a difficult issue that patients face.
Vision insurance is primarily used for glasses and contact lens prescriptions as well as the annual exam. Vision insurance can also provide different benefits for glasses and contact lens purchases.
Medical Insurance is used for diagnosing, treating, and managing eye conditions such as allergies, eye infections, dry eye, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic eye diseases, etc.
Due to constraints from the insurance companies, we often have to schedule medical and and vision appointments on separate days. If you are ever unsure about your insurance coverage, please give us a call and we would be more than happy to assist you.
